The PTAB Bar Association is pleased to announce that Andrei Iancu, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), will speak at the 2018 PTAB Bar Association Annual Conference.
Director Iancu will participate in a “Fireside Chat” to discuss his insights and goals as the new Director of the USPTO. Director Iancu’s participation in the 2018 PTAB Bar Annual Conference will be the first time that he addresses a formal gathering of lawyers who appear before the PTAB since being named Director of the USPTO. The “Fireside Chat” with Director Iancu will take place on March 22, 2018 at 5 PM, at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C.
In his role as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Director Iancu provides leadership and oversight to one of the largest intellectual property offices in the world, with more than 12,000 employees and an annual budget of over $3 billion. He also serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Commerce on domestic and international intellectual property policy matters. Prior to joining the USPTO, Mr. Iancu was the Managing Partner at Irell & Manella LLP, where his practice focused on intellectual property litigation.
The 2018 PTAB Bar Association Annual Conference will take place March 22 – 23, 2018, at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. Pre-conference sessions will be offered March 21. The conference will bring together practitioners, in-house counsel, and members of the bench for a dynamic discussion issues including PTAB best practices, recent developments and trends, and policy considerations.
