PTAB Bar Association to Host First Annual Nationwide Conference Dedicated to Practice Before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board
Washington, DC: Registration is underway for the first-ever conference of the PTAB Bar Association. This Inaugural Conference is slated for March 1–3, 2017, at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC. The conference will bring together practitioners, in-house counsel, and members of the bench for a dynamic discussion of the Patent Trial Appeal Board (PTAB) best practices, recent developments and trends, policy considerations, view from life science and tech industries, and much more!
Interim Directors of the Association welcome the Inaugural Conference, which will be the first nationwide conference solely dedicated to topics of interest to stakeholders who appear before the PTAB. Association Interim President Bob Steinberg said, “We have nearly 700 members and hope to meet as many of them as possible at the conference.” Echoing that enthusiasm, Interim President-Elect Erika Arner added, “This should be a great networking opportunity to informally get to know fellow members of the PTAB Bar regardless of which side of the v they may be on.” Interim Vice President Naveen Modi noted, “In addition to law firm practitioners, we are expecting a strong turn out from industry practitioners, the PTO, including judges, and others, which will make this a worthwhile event to attend.”
Leading practitioners from around the nation have assembled a stellar lineup of high-profile speakers to lead interactive events at the conference. Sessions will include:
• View from the Bench including PTAB judges
• Industry Perspective (including views from petitioners and patent owners)
• Tips and Trends from Leading Practitioners and Judges
• Discussion of Best Practices for Parallel Proceedings from District Court and ITC Judges
Other events will include a pre-conference workshop on March 1, 2017, for help learning the basics or polishing up your knowledge of PTAB proceedings, as well as networking sessions during and after the conference.
